Day ?: It’s Getting Real

It really amazes me at the roller coaster ride one can go through during a rehearsal. One scene is great and the next one…questionable.  It’s hard to keep motivated sometimes when your tired and you’ve got a huge project due in two days, but that’s what separates the good from the great.  I have to remember that every time I come on stage.  I’ve got to prove to myself that I’m good enough, that this is something I can do.  Sometimes I see my fellow cast mates doing some really great work, making strong choices and bringing the text to life.  I wish I could just step out of my body so I can see what I’m doing on stage with my own two eyes.  I wonder if I’d be repulsed, amazed, taken aback. I don’t know. Either way, it’s getting down to crunch time and it’s getting real.

It’s a Royal Fit

I had my first fitting today.  Even though the stitching wasn’t finished, it all felt so regal. I think it was supposed to be the first costume i put on as Macbeth’s wife so it wasn’t super crazy but definitely upper class. The fabric kind of felt like a curtain; it felt extremely durable.  I think that sort of speaks to my character in a way.  Like she isn’t easily shaken.  She can withstand anything your throw at her, at least at the beginning of the play of course.  I cant wait for the real thing! And then there’s the matter of what I’ll be wearing during my sleepwalking.  It’s got to be a complete 180° from when I am queen. A lot of productions i’ve seen and heard about have Lady Macbeth either scantily clad or just completely naked for that scene.  Well, I’m not so comfortable with that so a nude body suit will have to do! Either way, the costume designer will work miracles so I’m not sweating it!

Voice Class Turns into Tumbling Class

Best Monday Morning EVER!

So Voice class. The one place where yelling to someone across the street, balling into fetal position, and massaging your sinuses are totally warranted. Today was THE best class partly because it was an hour long (as opposed to two) and we rolled on the floor for the last 20 minutes.  It really got good though when we decided that we should take things to the next level and cartwheel across the floor.  Soundtrack included! Katy Perry joined the party as we reminisced those better days of childhood when we weren’t scared to run full speed and flip in the air.  So I’ve got a new skill to master since I figured out I can get over the mental hurdle of falling: front hand spring.  Yep it’s gona happen y’all. It’s gona happen.
